By-Laws
The City of Toronto and other municipalities have by-laws written to protect trees and forests. In many cases, a permit will be required before work can be started on pruning or removing trees.
Different regulations may exist depending on whether the tree is city owned, or privately owned.

If your tree(s) do require a permit, an application will have to be filled out, please see one of the links below. An arborist report will also be required with submission, as well as pictures, tree replanting plan, and a method of payment.
